Obama has repeatedly said that he favors continuing the 2009 exemption and tax rate levels for the foreseeable future. Clearly the Republicans favor a Bush-like approach of continuing to increase the exemption level and lowering the tax rate. In either case, there is almost no chance that we will be seeing mass suicides on December 31, 2010. That will have to wait until 2061 when the Halley’s Comet makes another pass.
