This seems like a very comprehensive collection of topics to get a potential entrepreneur the basics and understanding of the real life working business world. It’s nice to have the students actually work through their own business plan and actually work through the steps leading up to the competition. This gives the perspective and experience of what actually has to happen to create a successful business. I would absolutely take this class.

Good comprehensive collection of useful entrepreneurship stuff. I think this would be an interesting and helpful class to have.

@Ellen – Good call on the office space. I added a section on when to get an office and when not to on my the entrepreneur 101 page, http://www.nathanlustig.com/entrepreneur-101/ and added a discussion on it, plus a reading to Week 15. Did you see anything else I missed?

I’d love to see a potential syllabus for a social media class…you should do it and post it to your blog! Journalism and Marketing students would love a class like that.

This would be a wonderful class. The one thing I noticed is that it seems to be geared toward technology-related entrepreneurship – what would you think about adding in a bit about looking for an office or retail space and the leasing process?

It’s funny that you posted this when you did – I’ve been e-mailing with one of my professors and mentioned the possibility of creating an online marketing/social media class. I might have to hash out a potential syllabus, just for kicks. A recent graduate of DePaul in Chicago taught a class last fall focusing entirely on Twitter and Journalism. Interesting stuff.

@ Thanh Lu Keep me updated on how your program works. I like the trend of more social entrepreneurship, rather than just high tech. I agree with you that the biggest thing outsiders can help with is focusing the idea down as much as possible.

I’m also starting a program that works with student social innovators (social entrepreneurship) and one of the things I work with them on is to define and refine their mantra, as Guy Kawasaki calls it, their purpose. Entrepreneurship is about a person’s motivation, bigger than making money. The best thing that a mentor/coach can do is work with the “why” and hold people accountable to it and real entrepreneurs will figure out the “how.”

Any kind of accomplishments reflect who they are.
